Today is the drawing here in Illinois for the "Mega Million" Lottery. It's a mere $252 million dollars! So I sit here and say " What would I do with all that money?"
I can think of alot of things I want or would share with other people in my life.
I know for a fact that I would quit my day job and save my feet. Then I would definetly buy a house on the beach in Sanibel Island, Florida. Then there are
beads! Can you imagine what I could buy with that? Or better yet, I would buy Etsy.
Just the thought I have a ticket makes me think maybe I would win! That would be sweet.
What would you do?

I would fax in my resignation, pay bills, share with my family and favorite causes, then buy the house next to you on Sanibel Island! Girl, we could have some beading fun!
I like Sanibel Island too... but I think I'd get my own island.
For me community is important. So, I would buy up a huge factory building and convert it into several different things. On the first floor would be an art gallery, a retail shop featuring artisan made goods, and a cafe and bar. On the second floor would be studio space, each one devoted to a different trade or technique, like silk screen, etching, metal smithing, ceramics... etc. The third floor would house the theater, for both movie screenings, lectures, and performance art. The fourth floor would be devoted to the practical sides of making a living in the arts, like a debt reduction councilor, student aid advisors, PR and marketing specialists, job placement, and basically the administration stuff necessary to keep the ball rolling. The fifth floor would all be individual artist studios, the artists would be selected and allowed to have the space for free, in exchange for a set number of works that would be displayed in the gallery on the first floor or sold in the retail shop. The sixth floor would be one of two floors devoted to living quarters for all the artists involved. The rent would be subsidized, so that the artists involved could focus on their work. The eighth floor would be the library and multi-media hub.
Ideally I'd like to create a place that's a cornerstone of creativity. Where artists and makers of things can focus on their art. The workshops and studios would be open to the public and classes could be taught and after school programs.... basically a place that would make art number one and do so without having to mortgage your house or go into financial ruin.
Oh, and I'd pay off those pesky student loans that I racked up myself and give fresh drinking water to my mom's side of the family who live in the Philippines. And I'd set up college funds for all my nieces and nephews. And I'd have every Anne Choi bead.
